Creating The Perfect Skincare Routine

Why we need a AM & PM Skincare Routine

Creating a AM and PM Skincare routine is an important act of Self Care that will help our skin feel supported as we age.

The morning skincare routine is focused on preparing the skin for the day ahead, providing hydration, and protecting the skin from environmental stressors such as UV rays and pollution, where as the evening skincare routine is focused on repairing and rejuvenating the skin overnight, promoting cell turnover, and providing intense hydration.

Our skin is exposed to various environmental factors, such as pollution, UV rays, and harsh chemicals, which can damage the skin's natural protective barrier and cause premature aging, acne, and other skin issues.

By following a consistent skincare routine, you can help protect your skin from these harmful elements, maintain its natural moisture balance, and prevent common skin problems. A good skincare routine typically includes cleansing, exfoliating, moisturising, and protecting the skin with sunscreen.

Why we love Ayurvedic Skincare Practices

Washing the face with pure pressed plant oils is an ancient Ayurvedic method to cleanse and gently exfoliate the skin. The practice of oil washing arose in ancient cultures and has been practiced for centuries. Oil washing was introduced to central and southern Europe by nomadic Roma women who emigrated from northern India in the 14th and 15th century. These oils plus water and a cloth are the simple essentials to cleanse, exfoliate and moisten.

The oils used in Ayurvedic oil washing vary depending on skin type and specific skin concerns. For example, sea buckthorn, sandalwood, coconut, sesame, and almond oil are commonly used for dry skin, while frankincense, jojoba, grapeseed, and argan oil are recommended for oily skin.

While Ayurvedic oil washing may not be suitable for everyone, it is a natural and gentle alternative to traditional cleansers and may be worth exploring if you are interested in exploring alternative skincare practices.

Finally, protecting your skin from the sun's harmful UV rays with sunscreen can prevent skin damage, premature aging, and reduce the risk of skin cancer.

See below our simple Ayurvedic inspired skincare routine to balance, prep and protect our skins microbiome.

AM

  1. Gentle Cleanse |  This cleanse should be more gentle then your evening cleanse as the build up of oil is minimal. Using a product that is lightweight and won't cause excessive oil buildup throughout the day like Living Libations Frankincense Best Skin Ever.

  2. Moisturiser: Applying an extra pump of the frankincense best skin ever will give lightweight moisture and provide hydration to the skin to prevent dryness throughout the day. Also creating an even base for makeup application if desired.

  3. Sunscreen: Applying a broad-spectrum sunscreen protects the skin from UV rays and prevents sun damage. We love a dab of Everybody loves the sunshine Zinc Lotion.

PM

  1. Deep Cleanse | This Cleanse needs to be richer and more thorough as we need to remove makeup, dirt, and oil accumulated throughout the day. We love Living Libations Sandalwood Best Skin Ever paired with our biodegradable konjac sponge for a gentle exfoliation and deeper cleanse.

  2. Serum | Applying a serum is important for our evening routine, when we sleep our skin is repairing giving it that extra treatment will leave you waking up with that beautiful glow. We love Living libations Rose Glow Serum.

  3. Moisturiser | Using an extra pump of your best skin ever and taking the time to gently massage this into the face, neck and décolletage is a beautiful evening ritual that will help the product penetrate deeper into the skin and release any tension from the day. We loving using a smooth rose quartz crystal and rolling this around the face, jawline and down the sides of the neck.

  4. Eye Massage | Our skin is extra delicate around the eyes. You can use your best skin ever however if you want something a little less runny we recommend making your own treatment below.
